The Gray Family selected the path leading to the dock on the lake at Watoga for their bench. Work on developing the forest into a park began in 1934 but improvements stopped during World War II. Watoga State Park Map. Located alongside the Greenbrier River and next to Mo-nongahela National Forest in the southeastern part of the state this is West Virginias largest state park. Rental cabins and campgrounds are within the park. Friends of West Virginias Watoga State Park help provide support for a large system of hiking trails.

National Forest Campgrounds are close by. Vacation cabins at Watoga State Park are open year-round and ADA accessible. Watoga Lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities and is part of the Division of Natural Resources stocking program.

Watoga State Park vacation cabins are more modern with heating and air conditioning units and gas or log burning fireplaces microwaves and fully equipped kitchens with range refrigeratorfreezer dinner and cookware.
